At Anime NYC 2025, Manga Mavericks was granted access to an industry roundtable with two key figures behind the upcoming Akane-banashi anime adaptation: Seisuke Araki-san, the Weekly Shonen Jump editor overseeing the manga at Shueisha, and Kazuki Endo-san, the television producer helming the Studio ZEXCS production. The roundtable also included Anime Herald and Anime Corner. Questions covered rakugo licensing and public domain, the anime’s ambitions for a Western audience, and what it takes to bring a Shonen Jump series with this much craft to screen.
